RATIONALE

The Pearl Awards is an annual recognition of exceptional practices, projects and innovations that is a vital part of a fast growing and dynamic organization such
as the Association of Tourism Officers of the Philippines, Inc.

Acknowledging the individuals responsible for this significant contribution to our community and the tourism sector conveys a powerful message that creative endeavors and outstanding services will not be disregarded or undervalued; rather, they deserve acknowledgment and will be publicized to enhance visibility and recognition as rewards for such commendable actions.

The Best Tourism Practices Awards, established in 2005 in collaboration with the Department of Tourism, was inaugurated at the 6th ATOP National Convention in Bacolod City, Negros Occidental, to formalize an annual recognition system. This award aims to recognize and celebrate the exemplary contributions of individuals in the tourism sector, particularly those made by Local Government Units, to society as a whole. In 2023, the ATOP Pearl Awards transitioned to electronic submissions. This innovation encouraged remote regions to submit their virtual bid books online via the ATOP website.
